Stone & Dust is South Australia's newest and most exciting regional festival offering. Serving up some heavy-hitting legends of the Australian music industry set against the backdrop of the stunning Old Mt. Gambier Gaol.
Stone & Dust isn't going to be something we'll forget anytime soon, so make sure you secure a spot before tickets sell out!
As brash and confident as they are strange and uncompromising, the three founding members of Spiderbait – Janet, Whitt and Kram – started humbly in the rural NSW township of Finley, the fervent music lovers taking inspiration from everything from Slayer to The Bangles and meshing into one intoxicating and unique brew.
The narrative of the Spiderbait story is so fantastical it could only be based in truth: three friends from a small country Australian town taking on the Australian music scene on their own terms and emerging triumphant 25 years later, the friendships unscathed but their band one of the biggest and best on the national scene.
Whether you focus on his lyrics, his melodic hooks (or focus on nothing at all and just enjoy yourself) as a songwriter Drapht can pretty much do everything. Each of his six subsequent albums brought increasing levels of complexity and refinement, ascending Drapht to the absolute upper echelon of Australia's stacked card of hip-hop heavyweights. Already, he is one of the greats.
With a platinum record, multi platinum and gold singles and two ARIA’s already under his belt, it's no great secret that Drapht is a songwriting prodigy.
Spotlight: Seth Sentry
While Seth Sentry would probably be offended by the choice of words that his music has 'matured', it is meant as a compliment. His latest single, the moody and vividly detailed Wrong One, marks a new point in his career that is a noticeable level-up.
More controlled and crafted, the song smacks of experience without losing the irreverent charm that made people fall in love with him to begin with. So maybe matured isn't quite the word, but as time goes on Seth Sentry sure-footedly climbs closer to the apex of being a legit grandmaster of his craft.
The KINGSWOOD just keep rolling! Following on from the release of singles ‘Say You Remember’ and ‘Bittersweet’, the Melbourne four-piece blister through global pandemics throughout 2020 with their latest single, the high-octane ‘You Make It So Easy’.
Although COVID has thwarted the touring plans of musicians globally – Kingswood continue to charge, dropping bread crumbs along the way in preparation for that sweet, sweet loaf when the world is finally given that wonderful green light.
